Take Action to Protect Secret Ballots in the Workplace & Jobs!
The very cornerstone of democracy in the workplace is at stake! National and state unions are on a mission to pass legislation in Congress that would DENY North Carolina employees their fundamental American right to a secret-ballot vote in the workplace when deciding whether to join a union -- a right employees should be GUARANTEED! Instead of secret-ballot elections, unions favor a "card check" system conducted out in the open, which exposes employees to public pressure from union leaders and their allies -- both on and off the job!
The deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act (card check legislation) is a flawed policy proposal that would benefit only unions. Card check legislation would tilt the process by which workplaces become unionized toward unions at the expense of employees and employers. Card check legislation would: 1) Replace secret-ballot elections in the workplace with open signature card drives; 2) Violate employees' privacy rights; 3) Take away the rights of employers to make far-reaching decisions about their workplaces; 4) Increase penalties for "unfair practices" on employers, but not unions; 5) Make North Carolina less competitive when it comes to attracting and growing good jobs.
Click on the links below to learn more about card check legislation and how to join the North Carolina Chamber and a growing coalition of pro-jobs allies who are actively working to protect secret ballots in the workplace and jobs.
