February 1, 2011 – Government Affairs Conference
Shaping NC’s Future: Policy and Perspectives for 2011 - a kick-off to the 2011 legislative session. The Chamber highlighted efforts to address the needs of the state’s business community. Previous speakers include Mort Kondracke of The Beltway Boys on Fox, renowned pollster Frank Luntz, journalist Juan Williams and leadership from the state House and Senate. Critical business issues to watch for in 2011 include transportation and infrastructure, tax policy and workers’ compensation reform.

March 2, 2011 – NC Chamber Annual Meeting
The 69th Annual Meeting is the NC Chamber’s flagship event. Past speakers include Fortune 100 Company executives, former CEO of Southwest Airlines Howard Putnam, former White House Economic Policy Advisor Todd Buchholz and noted business author and consultant Jason Jennings. The Corning Award for Distinguished Citizenship and the NC Chamber Distinguished Public Service Award are presented during the annual meeting.
Rising health care costs and health care reform continue to be top concerns for business leaders today. The North Carolina Chamber’s Health Care Cost Summit heard from experts on how improve current health care delivery and what employers are doing across the country to address health care needs and costs.
The objective of the NC Chamber’s inaugural Forum on Shaping North Carolina’s Future was to address the challenges and opportunities facing North Carolina in the global marketplace. The Forum offered attendees a platform to share ideas on improving North Carolina’s competitiveness. Topics included an economic analysis of North Carolina – past, present and future, the state’s business climate, innovation, economic development and an update from the current legislative session.

August 25, 2011–Workers’ Compensation Summit This session, sweeping workers’ compensation reform became a reality with the passage of HB709: Protect and Put NC Back to Work. Legislators and experts discussed the process and how the new law will impact your business.
Attendees received updates on critical environmental management issues affecting North Carolina businesses. Sessions included an overview of federal and state legislative/regulatory updates, compliance and permitting; water challenges and management; federal updates on air, hazardous waste and water; and emerging trends.
October 18, 2011 - Human Resources Conference This inaugural event provided attendees with important HR updates, including information on the federal health care reform’s reporting requirements and impact on your business, employment laws and trends, unions and employee wellness. Also, hilarious Generational Humorist Meagan Johnson shared some secrets on working with all generations.
November 8, 2011 - Tax Conference The tax conference provided attendees with current information on state and federal tax-related issues and policies. Topics included federal tax policy debate, state tax modernization, state legislative updates, state revenue forecast for the coming year and national tax trends and changes.
